So much to do, so little time

Hello everybody, sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I've been busy with life lately til it's madness. And there's my family who are trying to stop me from writing, well, you know, all the stuff...
Originally, the story was actually supposed to be much longer, but I been getting some mails from readers who said could I make the story shorter, maybe around 300 pages or so? That way they don't have to carry a 505 page book that maybe the equivalent of an Oxford dictionary (Which is the book that I first wrote). So, I've been giving a shot at writing at around 300-400, hopefully this one may come out this year. I already submitted the sketches and cover design to my good cover designer friend, hopefully he'll be able to finish it ASAP. (I'm not hurrying him, but like I said, hopefully he can finish it and then I'll be able to submit it along with the manuscript to lulu.com)
The story that you see now is actually considered the first draft, I'm actually already in the process of editing the manuscript right now, cutting the irrelevant parts, adding details that I missed and double checking on spelling errors (I may seriously have to consider finding an editor...), so it'll take a while too.
Don't worry, I'll let you all know when the next project arrives. I'm off to editing...again.

The Story of Blitz : Chapter 21 – The Place Where It All Started

“Blitz? Are you alright?” Gemini had just reached him, looking concerned. She caught sight of the paper in his hands over his shoulder. “What’s that?”
Blitz crumpled the paper in his hand and ran off, shoving others out of his way and ignoring Gemini’s cries of, “Blitz, where are you going? Blitz?”
But he ignored her and stepped out of the gates, just in time to see a familiar tall dark silhouette running with astonishing speed.
“Wait!” He shouted, running after him. He may not be an athlete but he had spent many hours in the gym back in Washington DC. Thank goodness the muscles he had been working on are paying off. He launched himself into a sprint and managed to kept up with him, who is dressed as the Phantom on their very first encounter.
“Hold it!”
He suddenly slowed into a halt when the figure threw back his hood and gave a twisted grin, causing him to stare in shock.
“Surprised to see me?” Sigan sneered.
Blitz grabbed him recklessly by his cloak and shouted, “Where is she?!”
Sigan yanked his hands off him. “Get your hands off me, vermin. What makes you think I’ll tell you?”
“Give her back, darn it.”
“Oh, but she’s never yours to begin with, boy.” Sigan taunted. “He had always been after her for a very long time…”
“Just what on earth are you people?” Blitz asked, shaking hard.
Sigan looked amused. “Do you really want to know, boy? Then, go to the place where it all started.”
Blitz was about to answer when Sigan disappeared into a flurry of wings, laughing.
*************
Luna clung onto him tightly as he leapt from building to building without slowing down. She was surprised how calm she was too despite this is her first time being taken away and being leapt in between buildings, though not by her own will.
“You seemed very calm.”
His voice chilled her, caressing her ears. She did not look up to see his face in fear of meeting those eyes that lusted for her, like a hungry wolf wanting to claim his prey. It scares her to see what look like an obsession behind the eyes.
“Why me?” She asked, keeping her eyes downward, not looking at his face.
“I told you before, didn’t I? I love you, and only you alone.” He shifted her into a more comfortable position. “And nothing can ever change that.”
Luna, looking very confused stared at the surroundings. From the top, they have a very great view of the town. The thick leafy green heads of the Shadow Woods seemed to look like mushrooms from above. Sierra Peak seemed to loomed over them like some monstrous skyscrapers.
He finally stopped in front of somewhere familiar. The shrine. Her shrine…
“You can put me down, you know.” She muttered.
“Just a little longer.” He chided. “Let me hold you just a little longer.”
“Let me go…” Luna said as he tightened his grip on her.
“No… I won’t. I failed last time and I won’t repeat the same mistake a-Ouch!”
Luna bit his hand hard and he let go of her. She failed to fall down the correct way and instead her elbow knock hard on the concrete ground followed by the rest of her body. A painful shock zaps through her body and she can’t help but crying out in pain. But she wasted no time running down the flights of stairs and into the woods , her other hand cradling her painful elbow.
Seymour stared in astonishment and pulled back his sleeve where a set of bite marks are visible. The thought made him want to laugh. He never expected her, so innocent and fragile like spun glass to go offensive.
“You want to play hide and seek?” He said outloud to no one in particular, his eyes fixed on the running figure in the distance that is heading for the Shadow Woods. ”Then, let’s play.”
*
“What on earth wee you thinking, Blitz?” Carla was exclaiming as he made his way back to the Sacred Heart High School entrance where Gem is also waiting. “You left Gem behind like that just to chase after some random kidnappers? What if Gem’s kidnapped as well?”
“I’m sorry, Aunt Carla.” Blitz said softly, “But it’s complicated.”
“Blitz, you’ve been acting strange ever since you met that girl…” Carla said, looking worried. “Did she…influence you in some way?”
“No, Aunt Carla. Why do you all keep pointing fingers at her when she never done anything wrong???”
“No, Blitz, but you always seemed to be involved in some kind of fight whenever you’re around with her, and…there’s bullet holes on your car…”
“I was attacked by some mad man who was after her, Aunt Carla!” Blitz snapped, losing patience. “You all weren’t there, you don’t know how ruthless he is. ” An image of Seymour kissing an unconscious Luna on the forehead back at the other town suddenly flashed back into his mind, causing to clench his fists tighter. He could feel static electric gathering in his fists. “I’m only doing what is right, and if you can’t seem to see that way, then fine… I’ll do things my way.”
“Blitz, wait just a minute…” But he had already ran off, leaving Carla looking worried.
“Madre…” Gemini said softly from her side. “Just let him be.”
“Why would you say that, cara?”
“Because…” Gemini said in her soft-toned voice. “That girl…Luna, is not a bad person. I can feel her aura. It’s not a bad aura, but more like…confused.”
Carla gave a sigh and clasped her hands as in prayer. Please, Madonna, let him be safe and sound…
*
Luna turned to look back around her shoulder and much more to her relief, he’s not behind her. Thank God. As she stopped to rest against a tree, she heard a soft thundering sound, the sound of flowing rapids. From the sounds of it, it should be nearby.
Relaxing herself, she let the sound guide her deeper into the woods, enjoying the feeling of her bare feet treading on the earthly soil when some trees parted to reveal a fast-flowing rapid. The white foam smashed into the granite rocks, spraying bubbles all around. There’s no hope of getting across, because the rocks are slippery, even though they are within stepping range. One wrong slip and it’ll all be over, being carried away by the rapids, thrown against rocks like a mad game of pinball, with the fallen victim being the ball.
She closed her eyes and let the sound of thundering water pound into her ears. It’s strange, but whenever she feel frustrated, angry or sad, the sound of flowing water always soothe her. The sound of a waterfall, the ripples of a pond, drops of water droplets falling onto the ground… No matter what it is, water will always make her feel relaxed and soothe her soul.
Pulling back her sleeve, she stared at her throbbing elbow and stared at the huge blue black bruise against her pale skin. Cupping some water with her free hand, she applied gentle pressure on the bruise.
“You had always enjoyed water…” A voice said softly form behind her.
Her eyes snapped open but he was already holding her into place, his arms wrapped tightly around her from behind.
“Did you remember anything yet? Our time together in Ajora… Or Terra?” He said softly into her ear.
A shadow loomed over him, tilting his head up a little, he felt a lurch of surprise as the thundering rapids towered over him like a massive tsunami. He barely had time to gasp when it came crashing on top of him like a giant hammer, and pulling him into its embrace, leaving her alone, clutching her head in pain. Long deep buried visions of memories are surfacing around her that she never even knew.
A vision of her dressed up in a silk gown, riding on a carriage to somewhere. Her expression looks as though she’s on her way to a funeral.
A vision of her running through a thick forest with monks armed with firearms chasing after her.
A vision of herself being chased by…Sigan? He was lashing out at her with iron-hooked claws. In order to avoid him, she had stepped back and fell, crashing into the river, her screams lost in the thundering water flow.
“Just what on earth happened to me???” She cried wrapping her arms around herself, hot tears pouring down from her eyes. She could feel herself shaking uncontrollably and sobbing hard, unable to help herself, she sat down on the ground and brought her knees close to her.
“Luna?”
Blitz came bursting into the clearing, his tux which had been smart, now looks rumpled and limp from his sweat, both the tux and shirt untucked. His shoes are covered with dirt and looked worn out. From the looks of him, he had been running all over town, looking for her.
“Luna? Are you alright? Did that jerk hurt you?”
“Blitz, what am I?” Luna clutched his jacket. “Tell me…”
A raven swooped down and hit him from behind, sending him sprawling a few yards away.
“We come to pick you up, princess.” Sigan said, morphing into human form.
“He doesn’t want us to delay any longer…” Demise said from above, sitting up on a tree, holding his scythe. His expression as angelic as ever.
The surface of rapids suddenly exploded from behind her like a water sprout and he hovered above the rapids, looking completely unscratched, but dripping wet. His skin is as pale as ever, and his clothes clung to him tightly, showing off his thin yet muscular figure.
“That was unexpected…” He landed both feet firmly on the ground.
“What on earth are you?” Blitz stared at him with utter distaste.
Sigan and Demise laughed, their sound are sort of like bass and alto, ringing together in the woods that made his hair stand up on his back. Even in the woods, their laughter echo all around him.
Seymour was the one who spoke. “I think you have pondered long enough. Very well then, I’ll tell you.” He gestured at his allies. “We are a race of beings called Terranaians.”
Blitz couldn’t help but snort. “Terrawhat?”
“Terranaians. A being with powerful magic abilities.” He turned his gaze on Luna. “She’s one too.”
“Me?” She pointed at herself.
“Of course you are, my little princess. You had always been one.” His eyes seemed to flicker for a moment. “The people of the town had been keeping things from you ever since they found you washed up here. No, they never tell any outsiders about their little well-kept town’s secret.”
“What on earth are you blabbing about?” Blitz asked, his eyes getting narrower.
“Haven’t you noticed, boy? This little town is in the middle of ley lines. The humans here are pretty much aware of magic, it’s just that most of them don’t practice the art, preferring to live a simple life. Eventually, they forgotten their roots and get on with their boring daily life. You.. I never sense any aura coming from you, but now that I come to think of it, you weren’t in town long enough.”
Blitz could feel his memory being recalled. It seemed a long time ago when he went to the library and opened that journal. The town is built on top of ley lines. Was it a coincidence, then?
“We shouldn’t be telling him any of this.” Sigan said, flurry of raven feathers spinning around him. “We should just nab that girl right here and now.” He lunged for her, about to grab her neck when a bolt of blue lightning struck past him, giving him a nasty zap from the hand to the elbow.
“I don’t know how to control this ability of mine, but I sure know how to use it to zap crazy maniacs like you. ” Blitz’s palms crackled with blue sparks, reflecting in his opal eyes. He then turned to Luna. “Even if you’re not human, you’re still my friend. So snap out of it already.”
Murasama conjured out of thin air in his hand and he tried to run him through with its blade but Blitz side-stepped him and hurled a bolt of lightning from behind. Although it didn’t seemed to do much damage to him, he was pleased to see that it had hit his mark.
“Now you done it…” He hissed, swinging his blade dangerously.
As Blitz prepared to take his stand, thick vines slithered towards him and try to whip him. He did a hand flip and blasted them apart with lightning, causing them to sizzle and wither.
“My plants!” Demise wailed. He was actually near to tears when he saw the withered vines. “How could you kill my lovely plants?”
“Your plants were never lovely, it’s deadly.” Blitz yelled, holding out his static electrically charged fists. “Who wants a piece of this?”
A painful sensation is tingling from his side. Looking down, he saw a spot of red blossoming rapidly like a crimson flower.
I got cut, he thought dazedly.
“I’m going to kill you slowly.” Seymour said softly. “You’ll die all alone in the woods, and no one is going to hear your screams.”
Despite the wound on his side, Blitz lunged at him, streaks of lightning shooting out from his palms. Seymour knocked him backwards and he was sent flying into the air. There was an almighty splash and he was thrown into the rapids.
“Electric doesn’t work on water, so don’t bother trying.” He taunted.
Blitz’s head emerged out of the water and his hands just managed to clung onto the boulder as the current slammed into him. Even so, he can’t hold much longer. His fingers are barely clinging onto the edge of the rock, and his arm muscles are screaming with strain, the cut wound near his ribcage is not helping either. All three were looming over him, not even lifting a finger, watching him suffer. Any minute now he’s going to be swept off, either he’ll drown, get smashed by the water pressure or get cut by the sharp rocks. Either way, he’s heading to his death.
His fingers finally gave in, and he was swept into the river, his head bobbing up and down half blinded by the spray, fighting with the current, gasping for air.
“He won’t make it.” Sigan said as Blitz flailed blindly to grab hold of another rock. The last rock before he was thrown into the rushing current.
Something dashed past the three of them, causing Seymour to go, “No!”
Luna, burning with resolve, leapt over the first rock, nearly stumbling as she did so, the spray whipping at her face and her hair, fast soaking wet clung to her face. Even though it’s extremely dangerous, she reached out and grabbed hold of Blitz’s hand, which he in turn tightened his grip.
“Luna, it’s dangerous!” He shouted over the roar of the water.
“I know…” Luna replied him, not even shouting, but her voice carried over to his ears.
“Princess, get back here. It’s dangerous!” Seymour was looking worried, worried for her.
Blitz’s grip slackened and he was swept off by the river, thrown around like a ragdoll.
Luna gasped and without even thinking, ignoring Seymour’s pleas, leapt into the water herself and barely managed to get ahold of Blitz by his index finger. She pulled herself close to him and shielded him from the rocks, letting them smash against her body.
She wasn’t feeling scared for herself, but she was scared for him. Bubbles erupted from all over the place and they were thrown over and over by the sweeping current. It was foolish and reckless that she jumped into the rapids after him, now they’re both going to die in the cold depths all alone, where nobody will ever find them.
Oh God, please… She thought. Don’t let him die. Please, someone, help him…
Losing consciousness, stars swimming in her eyes, she let darkness take her in gracefully, but never letting go of him.

The End for now...

The Story of Blitz : Chapter 20 - The Dance

“YOU DID WHAT?!!!!!” Scorpio screamed into his ear.

Luna had accompanied Blitz back to Sierra Falls, but not at the inn, but at her temple where thankfully, there’s an old-fashioned phone which is still intact, after she brought him back to town for treatment and now, helped him to make a call to Carla, but unfortunately, Scorpio picked it up and at first, had freaked out, then had insisted Blitz to answer the phone, only to give him an earful.

“YOU THRASHED THE HONDA ON YOUR FIRST EVER RIDE? WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU???” He screamed some more.

“Uh, Scor… Listen. I did not thrash the car. The Demise kid thrashed it…”

“I DON’T CARE WHO OR WHAT DID IT! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU, BLITZ!!! YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!!!” He then launched into a torrent of Italian swear words, with Blitz covering the phone meekly with his hand. Luna on the other hand, is cleaning the dirt off his clothes and trying to ignore the muffled screaming from the phone.

It was a while before Scorpio calmed down and finally said with a grunt, “Oh fine. By the way, Gemini wants to speak with you.”

“Blitz, you have got to get back by 6 p.m.” Gemini sounded slightly irritated.

“Why?”

“The school dance is tonight, and I need you to be there.”

“What???” Blitz nearly dropped the phone. “Gem, I never said yes.”

“Apparently, those girls had been spreading rumours that I will be bringing you to the dance, and everyone confronted me about it. If you don’t show up, everyone will say that I’m nothing but a show-off.”

Blitz sighed. Guess he can’t blame Gemini for being irritated. “Sure, but am I allowed to bring a guest?”

“Sure. I’ll make sure to give you the invitation when you get back.”

Blitz put down the phone and sighed. Luna had finished cleaning the dirt off his clothes and handed it back to him, neatly folded and dirt free.

“What’s wrong? You seemed…irritated.” Luna licked her lips nervously.

“Gemini’s school is holding a dance and apparently some of the girls had spread rumours that I’ll be coming. If I don’t show up, Gemini will suffer being called a show-off.”

“That’s how they are.” Luna shrugged. “Then you had better get back.”

“Wait. Would you want to go with me?”

Luna seemed surprised, but her eyes did not give anything away. “Excuse me?”

“Would you go… to the dance with me?” He blurted.

Luna didn’t reply, but turned away, twisting her hair. He invited her to a dance… A dance where those teens torment her. An invitation…out of the blue.

“I don’t know.”

“Don’t give me an answer yet. Think about it.” Blitz got up, putting his clothes back on. “I’ll be at the inn before 5.30 p.m. The dance starts after 6, so you don’t have to come early.”

He then left, leaving her pondering deep with her thoughts.

*****************

Not long after he had left, a raven flew down and stared at her with its blood red eyes. Ignoring it, she occupied herself by cleaning the temple path by sweeping up bits of leaves, aware that it’s watching her every move.

Not long after she had finished sweeping up, Sigan appeared with his cloak bellowing behind him.

“You’re going, aren’t you?” He asked. “Or…are you not?”

“You shouldn’t have even bother to ask.” Luna held the broom like a naginata.

“Fool.” Sigan said softly. “He’s still recovering from that last time and here you are, like a maid, cleaning and taking care of things.”

“I’m tired of listening to you.” Luna sighed, spinning the broom. “Get lost or I’ll sweep you out myself.”

“Why don’t you just freeze me?” He taunted. “That should be good enough for- Argh!”

Luna had swung the broom at him, followed with a straight knife strike and a side swing. They caught him after another.

“You- This isn’t over, you ice witch!” He shouted, materializing into his raven form and took off in a flurry of wings.

****************

“Blitz, it’s already half past five. Let’s go.”

“Gem, give me a few more minutes.”

“Sorry, no can do. We’re going to be late at this rate.”

Gemini is wearing a peach coloured knee-length frock with shimmering sleeves with laces in shades of aquamarine and her hair ribbon is also the same colour matching the lace. For the finishing touches, she carried a pink shoulder bag and wore a pair of bright orange sandals, each decorated with a sunflower on the strap.

Blitz on the other hand, is tugging on his blazer. It was a birthday present from his parents before their deaths. It’s a faded soft brown white in colour, like white ash wood. Underneath he had wore a white T-shirt, matching pants and brown loafers. He never liked wearing formal much but today he had made an effort to dress up for his cousin’s sake.

“Aren’t you two ready yet?” Virgo is heaving a 5 kilograms bag of flour in his arms with ease. “You’re both going to be late...”

“Yes, we’re ready.” Gemini said, fiddling with her ribbon. “Come on, Blitz.”

They stepped out of the inn where Carla is waiting with her van. She is going to town to pick up supplies for the inn and had volunteered to take Blitz and Gemini to the dance.

“Gem, cara, I want you back by 11 p.m. Okay, no excuses.” Carla warned as they neared the school when Sacred Heart is slowly coming into sight. “I don’t want you to stay around too late. Many of the kids here are not a very good influence for you. You hear me?”

“Yes, Mom.” Gemini sighed.

“Blitz, take care of Gem for me. And…” She turned to him as they pulled up in front of the gates. “I hear what happened to the car from Scorpio. I’ll sent it down to the repair shop tomorrow. In the meantime, you can use Virgo’s Suzuki.”

“Thanks, Aunt Carla.” Blitz said, looking apologetic. “I’m really sorry though. I really didn’t mean for the car to get bashed up.”

“Yes, well…” She muttered as they got out of the car. “As long as there’s no second time...”

The dance was in full swing when they arrived. Loud buzz and chatters hung around the atmosphere. Loud music is thumping loudly out of the speakers with a DJ spinning his heart out with his state of the art sound system. Boys looking dashing in smart dinner dresses with their hair gelled thoroughly and nicely styled. Girls looking glamorous in sweeping dresses or frocks, with striking accessories such as necklaces, bracelets and jeweled hairbands. As far as he could see, their outfits are all formal, not too flashy nor immodest, but of course, this is a Catholic school. What did he expect?

“Gemini, you made it!”

Some of the girls that they had met at the tea shop came running towards them, their eyes already fixed on him. People around them are all staring at him, gesturing and murmuring, mainly the girls. The boys on the other hand, are looking very jealous, but with a tint of curiosity.

“Well, I…did brought him…” Gemini said in a slightly strangled voice. “As a guest.”

“Can we show him around, Gemini?” One of the girls asked.

“It’s not necessary.…” Blitz began.

“You must, Blitz. You’re new here. You had never stepped into our school before. ”

“Really, it’s not necessary at all.” Blitz said firmly. “And I have to keep an eye on Gem. Sorry about that, girls.”

“I think you should’ve gone with them…” Gem said softly as they made their way to the buffet table, leaving the girls looking rejected. “It would’ve made your life easier.”

“Gem, I don’t do things that I don’t want to do.” Blitz sighed, helping himself to some punch. “And those girls aren’t even your friends. They just want to use me to show off to the others. ”

They said no more after that, but helped themselves to the buffet table, which is technically what Asians call a potluck, which means everyone bring a container of food that makes up a buffet. There are sandwiches with a wide variety of flavours, arranged in a flower like pattern on plates. There’s also fried noodles, fried rice, cooked in the typical Asian style, although there are some pasta, steaks, croissants, pastries, nuggets, deviled eggs and sausages. On the desert table, there’s light cupcakes, sponge cakes, all kinds of cakes that you can think of. There’s also a large bowl of punch and large jugs of juices on the drinks table. As they ate, they talked about how things are here in Malaysia and things back in Washington DC. It’s the safe kind of comfortable chat just between these two cousins, no more no less.

“What are you doing here?!”

They both broke out of their talk and turned to the direction of the voice. Two guys who had been ushers at the entrance were blocking the way to the entrance. Blitz could catch a glimpse of blue hair in the light. He made his way to the front and there she was. She looked like an angel who had fallen from the skies of heaven, dressed in a traditional silk Japanese kimono. She looked emotionless even as the ushers were gazing at her with dislike.

“You came.” Blitz exclaimed happily.

Luna shifted one foot to the other uneasily. “You…didn’t want me to come?”

“No, no, I’m just really happy that you came.” Blitz said.

“You know this witch?” One of the usher asked in disbelief.

“Stop calling her that!” Blitz said. “She’s my friend.”

“Do you know what you’re saying?” One of the ushers said as Blitz reached over to pull her in.

“Yeah, I’m well aware of it and I don’t need you people to remind me.” Blitz said over his shoulder/

**************

“Where’s your cousin, Gemini?”

Gemini turned to the girl who had asked her. “I don’t know. I don’t keep track of him.”

“Oh, but you should…” The girl said. “Because he might get lost in our campus.”

Gemini was about to reply when she hear a deafening silence. The DJ seemed to have stopped spinning his music and the crowd seemed to be murmuring instead of chatting. All eyes were focused on the entrance where Blitz is leading Luna towards her.

“Who invited that witch?” One of the girls gasped in outrage.

“Why she’s with him?” Another queried.

Luna lowered her head and whispered softly. “I shouldn’t have come here…”

“Don’t worry.” Blitz said. “If anyone call you a witch, I’ll tell them to back off.”

Gemini was staring at him with utter disbelief as he made his way towards her. “Hey Gem, I hope you don’t mind that I invited her along.”

Gemini didn’t answer at first, but is staring at him with that disbelief look on her face.

It was one of the girls who answered for her. “Why is she here?”

“I invited her.” Blitz said, trying to keep his cool.

“She’s a freak, you know that?”

“Hey, cut that out.” Blitz said as Luna turned to leave. “Stop calling her a witch.” He turned to Gemini. “Gem, I hope you don’t mind that I invited her.”

“I don’t.” Gemini said stiffly. “But I had absolutely no idea that you and her are such close friends.”

“Thank you so much for the wine.” Luna said softly, bowing to her.

“It’s no big deal.” Gemini said, gaining back her posture. “But this is the first time I seen you out and about.”

“You haven’t eaten anything much again…” Blitz said, feeling her hands, which are twiggy like sticks.

“I don’t eat much.” She said in that soft tone of hers.

“Well, you got to eat something at least.” He led her to the buffet table, where there’s still plenty of food left. “What would you like? There’s pasta, rice, noodles…”

Luna picked one of the bread rolls and just cramming it into her mouth, letting the taste of freshly baked butter, wheat flour and yeast roll in her tongue.

“You seemed to really like bread, huh?” Blitz asked as she took another one devour it in mere seconds.

“I like meals that could be prepared within fifteen minutes.” Luna said, blushing slightly.

Many people were still in shock that the witch actually came down to the dance but gradually, they started chatting, going back to the normal atmosphere, though now people are throwing curious looks at their newest arrival. It was a relief when the announcement over the speakers is telling everyone to find a partner and dance. Everyone scrambled to find a partner to dance with, although many girls were trying to get Blitz to dance with them.

“Hey, um, do you want to dance?” Blitz asked.

Luna looked at her feet. “Dance?”

“Yeah, you know, for fun…”

“But…” She hesitated, but seeing Blitz’s look of eagerness, she gave a shrug and let herself being led by him. As the song blared out of the speakers, Blitz showed her how to synchronize with the music, dancing to the beat. Although she finds it uncomfortable, she seemed to gradually come to have fun, eventually loosening herself and having fun with him, though she’s till keeping some of her guards up. It made Blitz happy to see that she’s enjoying herself, even if it’s just a little.

At that moment, the event was thrown into pitch darkness, causing panic to arise. Even the electric stopped working, causing the music to be abruptly shut off. Blitz thought he could feel Luna stiffening beside him but when he try to reach for her, the lights suddenly came back on, just like magic.

But she’s no longer standing beside him.

“What on earth-” A student gasped.

“What’s going on?” Another one asked, looking terrified. Eventually a babble broke out among the others. Gemini, looking worried, went over to where he stood.

“Luna?” Blitz stared at the spot where she originally was, hoping she might appear, but try and hope as he might, she did not appear. People don’t just disappear, right?

Something caught his attention. As Gemini reached him, he spotted a piece of paper folded neatly into half, tucked underneath the bread plate where Luna was standing, eating bread when she first arrived. Feeling hollow in his stomach, he pulled the paper free from the plate and read the single long sentence written in elegant script.

I’M TAKING HER BACK…

The Story of Blitz : Chapter 19 – Highway Chase

The officers held their gun as he made his out, carrying Luna lovingly in his arms.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” The head demanded through his bullhorn. “You said you will let all the hostages go!”

“I said I let all those that I held captive go, I didn’t say I’ll let her go. She’s mine.” Seymour said nastily.

“You liar!”

“Shut up. You’re going to give me one of your cars and I’m taking my girl out of here.” He put the Glock near Luna’s motionless head. “Or you could start picking out bits of her brains here.”

“You’re mad.”

“I said, shut up.”

Blitz stumbled out of the doorway, covered in bruises and bumps. He looked beaten up but his eyes are blazing with determination.

“You let her go right now.” He yelled.

Seymour turned the Glock on him and fired. The bullet hit the door frame, narrowly missing him. Blitz gave a yelp and stumbled. He missed on purpose, showing that he could kill him off anytime but chose not to.

“Just do as he says.” The head officer said with defeat.

Some officers stayed way back as Seymour made his way down. Keeping his guards up, he got into the driver’s seat wand then carefully set Luna on the passenger’s seat. She looked fast asleep, with a serene look on her face, completely oblivious to the fiasco around her.

Giving them a mock salute, he reversed out of the lane and revved off, hitting the accelerator so fast that the tires screeched loudly and left tire marks on the road.

Blitz didn’t know what came over him, but next thing he knew, he’s fishing out his car keys and heading to his old Honda where he had left it and stab the key into the ignition.

“Kid, where are you going?” The head asked in alarm.

“To rescue my friend!” He yelled as he slammed the gear into action and gave chase.

The head was about to say something when an officer cruiser gave chase, causing him to go, “Who’s that? Tell them to stop!”

“Sir, that’s not our men driving.” An officer said.

The head could only drop his radio in shock.

**************

Feeling slightly nauseous and not fully conscious, Luna forced her body to sit up straight and even though her eyes are not open, to steady herself and try to figure out the situation she’s in right now. Except, she’s really feeling sick with nausea.

She felt something being pushed gently into her hand, the wrinkling sound of plastic like music into her ears and she threw up. Someone was pulling the back of head with soft tender gentleness so that her hair does not get dirty.

When she was done, someone took the bag from her and she could feel her stomach relaxing slightly.

Must get up… She thought weakly.

Her eyelids are very heavy, struggling, she forced her eyes to open and she felt her stomach flipped.

Where on earth am I? She freaked.

She saw something on her lap, a glossy carrier bag lined with multi-coloured tissue. And a smaller bag containing fried noodles and some croissants. Fingers trembling slightly, she unwrap the tissue and felt her eyes widened with surprise.

A one piece sailor dress and it’s such a darling. The sailor collar and the edgings are rose pink, with the dress ending just above her knee, short but strictly not micro-mini, with long sleeves decorated with ribbons and instead of a scarf, a ribbon in a brilliant shade of aquamarine.

“Your clothes are getting worn out.”

She jumped and clutched the dress tightly near her chest to find Seymour, lying down on his seat which he had pulled back into a sleeping position.

Luna took a look at her clothes and he’s right. To put it bluntly, it’s a mess. The shrine maiden clothes had became wrinkly and limp, her hands and legs covered with bruises, and her hair is slightly messed up.

“I’ll give you some privacy.” He shut his eyes as though he’s sleeping. “But don’t think of escaping. I locked all the doors by magic so it’s impossible to escape.”

Luna stared at the sailor dress again. She could feel it calling to her, asking her to try it on and she will not regret it, telling her once she put it on everything will be alright.

It was thirty minutes later when she had finally finished. She is now wearing the dress which fit her just right, showing off the curves of her body. She had also found a comb, a small pack of tissue wipes to clean the dirt off her skin, and a small bottle of perfume. She stuffed her worn out shrine maiden outfit into the carrier bag, and hungrily devoured the entire noodles and croissants with mineral water. She haven’t had a decent meal since he brought her here and she’s already starving.

Now he had opened his eyes and is staring at her like a blind man staring at the light for the first time. “The dress suits you.” He played with the Glock again, looking really interested with it. “If I had known these are good, I would’ve gotten one for my own instead of giving them to the monks.”

Luna blinked. “Monks?”

“My monks of Ajora.” He said, smiling that mysterious wolfish smile of his. “You haven’t seemed to have gained back your memories of there yet.”

Luna pounded her fists on her lap. “I just can’t remember. I just can’t.”

“You don’t have to.” He grabbed her arm just like last time, not too hard, not too gently but firm. “All you just need to know is I love you, and only you alone.”

“Don’t…” She whispered as he leaned in.

“Do you really want me to? But we had been apart for so-” He paused. At first she wondered why, then she saw from the corner of her eye.

An old Honda, heading in their direction. On the wheel, driven by fury…

The spell being broken, Seymour gritted his teeth, let go of her arm, and slammed the accelerator and Luna felt herself being thrown against the car door as he swerved sharply and accelerated.

“I won’t let anyone come into our way ever again.” He glared at the back window, letting the needle run past 100.

Blitz in his car was keeping sight of the cruiser that is gaining speed. Although his Honda is old and second-handed, it’s able to keep up. The one thing that really scares him are the sharp curves. Although Seymour is having no problem with the curves, swerving in and out of the road sharply.

Come on Blitz, they’re just curves… He tell himself, but yet he still felt a little tense. Curves are never his strong point, but even so… He waited til he’s precisely nearly half way through then he turned, nearly banging the rocky mountains walls.

I did it. He thought giddily.

BANG!

Blitz was thrown forward as the impact came from behind. What on God’s name is going on?

As he straightened himself up, there came another almighty BANG! And he was thrown forwards again, banging his head on the wheel. He turned to see… What the- That kid!

Demise and Sigan are behind him, driving another cruiser. Demise was on the wheel, smiling serenely, the front of the cruiser all bent and dented.

How can a kid like him drive?! Blitz accelerated but there came another BANG! And Demise banged the cruiser into his Honda again.

Hell, Blitz thought.

Even as he watched from the back window, Sigan is now climbing out of the cruiser, the wind whipping at his hair and the shirt he wore. Without even thinking, he leapt over to Blitz’s Honda with an almighty thud and tried to strike his hands but Blitz swerved sharply to make him fall off, except he grunted and clung onto the roof of his Honda , ducking low to avoid being unbalanced.

“Get off, darn it!” Blitz shouted, hitting the gas which caused Sigan to be thrown forward. Glaring at him, Sigan propelled himself back to the cruiser with Demise concentrating on trying to bang him off the road . As Blitz turned back to the front, a bullet ricocheted off the front of his car. Seymour is driving with his eyes on the road but one hand holding the Glock is aimed at him.

Even as Blitz watched, a bullet came smashing into his windscreen.

“That’s my first ever car, you jerk.” Blitz gasped in outrage and sped some more, his needle going past 120. Thank God it’s a straight road now in the highway so he don’t mind speeding. He was finally neck to neck with Seymour at last, who glared at him and prepared to pull the trigger-

Luna from the passenger seat clung at his arm, causing the bullet to miss. It hit the windscreen which now has two bullet holes on them.

“Princess, don’t interfere.” He shouted.

“I won’t let you hurt Blitz!” She shouted, clinging onto him tightly.

Blitz took the opportunity, after begging for God’s forgiveness, and rammed his Honda against Seymour who was thrown to the side, but still maintaining on the road.

“You brat.” Seymour hissed, swerving the wheel sharply so that Blitz was knocked against the steel railing., also causing Luna to fall onto his lap while clinging awkwardly onto his hand which is holding the gun.

Blitz had it, it’s bad enough that he kidnapped Luna but to dent his car and made bullet holes on them, it’s unforgivable. He let the needle run past 150 and stopped suddenly in front of the road, causing Seymour to hit the brakes. The tires screeched and squealed, battling against friction on the road and causing a rail of tire marks in its wake. Demise and Sigan pulled up behind him shortly after he had stopped.

Blitz jumped out of his car just as Seymour got out of his. Without even pausing, Blitz rammed his fist into his face, charged with lightning. He received a direct hit in the face and staggered. Not giving him time to recover, Blitz followed it with a kick in the guts and a palm thrust, all with lightning charge.

“I’m not giving you time to recover.” Blitz panted.

Without noticing, Seymour hooked his shins and unbalanced him, causing him to stumble onto the ground. Quick as a venomous cobra, he stamped Blitz on the abdomen, causing him to gag painfully.

“Stupid brat.” He sneered, wiping his bleeding lip. “You think that mere lightning attack can knock me down? Though I must say that you have improved.”

“Stop it!“

Blitz saw Luna running into their direction. Now why has her clothes changed? But anyhow, she looks cute in it.

“Stay back!” Seymour whipped the Glock out but she didn’t even flinch. She grabbed his hand and raised it so that the Glock is pointing directly at her head.

“You kill him, then you have to shoot me first.” She said without flinching or fear, but her own heart thumping hard.

“No.”

“I don’t care. Kill me first before you kill him. Because what better way to make him suffer?” She said, gripping his hands tightly.

“Luna, are you insane?” Blitz gasped, trying to get up but his stomach is hurting.

For the first time, Seymour’s entire face turned white, the Glock in his hand trembled too, the grip slackening. She could see it in his eyes, that he didn’t want to…

Kill her.

Freeing his hand from hers, he pulled Blitz up from the ground and shoved him to her. “That brat, I’ll leave you with her a little longer.” He shoved the gun into his waistband. “But next time, I’ll claim her back. Enjoy while you still can. ”

“Bro, are you serious?” Demise said as Luna held Blitz protectively. “I could just behead that boy in a sec.”

“Don’t you dare!” Luna’s eyes flashed for a moment and ice crystals erupted from beneath him.

“Wowee!” Demise jumped against Sigan, knocking him over.

“Draw back for now.” Seymour glanced at Luna with sadness in his eyes. “But next time, I’ll pry that boy apart.”

In a swirl of dark orbs, he teleported, so did Demise and Sigan, leaving 3 battered cars alone with Luna and Blitz in the middle of the road.

The Story of Blitz : Chapter 18 - At The Brink...

Blitz ran up towards the officers, trying to get past them but one of them spotted him and went, “Just what on earth are you doing, kid?”

“My friend. I got to help my friend!” He said, trying to push his way pass but the officer held him back.

“Stop, you can’t do anything now! If you enter too recklessly, that crazy man will kill her.”

“I don’t care, just let me through! “ Blitz tried to barge his way but another officer held him. “Just calm down, kiddo.”

“Calm down, how can I calm down when my friend’s in danger?”

“Please, just stay calm.” The officer who’s restraining him pleaded. “I know how it feels when your friend’s in danger, but he haven’t kill her yet.”

“How can you be so sure that he won’t suddenly turn into a double headed snake?” Blitz stopped fighting with the officer.

Actually, I have no idea as well, but I can’t tell that to the kid, the officer thought. Instead, he said, ”I just know, okay, kiddo?”

*******************

“Let them go.”

“No.”

“Why do you even bother taking them hostage?”

“They’re just an extra precaution.”

Luna did something brave then. She tugged at his jacket and said, “You’re evil, you know that? How can you be so cruel?”

“You don’t remember. Everyone back there is always tearing us apart.” Seymour said, facing her sapphire eyes which are burning with anger. “And even here too, that boy just have to interfere in everything.”

Both of them are sitting on a couch that is in the waiting area with the place barricaded with plastic chairs and the tables against the wall. About twenty or more people huddled close together, looking fearful.

“You want me right? Then let the others go and I’ll stay.”

Seymour regarded her with amusement. “If you have said that long time ago, I would’ve been happy to do so. But unfortunately, we’re in a different circumstances now.”

Luna raised her hand to slap him, except he caught her hand and said, “Beautiful… Those eyes burning with resolve. Those are the eyes that I wanted to see.” He then forced her hand down and held the Glock up. “But we are in the wrong world to be doing this.” He then pointed the Glock at the hostages, who gave a shriek and huddled closer. “Bring me one of your communication devices.”

Communication devices? Luna looked a momentarily stunned. Does he mean a cell phone???

One of the hostages went and placed a Blackberry on the table. Hard and black like a small rectangle with buttons all around its keypad. It’s really high-tech, with wireless connection and all.

He picked it up and said, “What a strange device.”

“Have you ever seen or used a Blackberry before?” Luna asked with sarcasm.

“To be frank, I don’t get along with technology.” Nevertheless, his fingers thumbed the keypad with ease and he waited for the call to get through.

***************

The head officer jumped a mile when his communication radio buzzed. “You have a call. Would you like to answer it?” The computer voice asked pleasantly.

“Yes, please.”

The call was answered and a cold voice came down the line. “I don’t think I need to introduce myself.”

“What on earth do you want?”

Blitz, who had been brought over by the officers and is now being offered a cup of tea to soothe his nerves, asked the head. “Who is it?”

It’s him, the head mouthed.

Blitz nearly dropped his cup of tea as he went over to the head radio and yelled into the mouthpiece. “You SOB. What have you done with Luna?!”

“You.” The single word dripped like venomous toxic on the line.

“Let Luna go!”

“Shut up, boy. She’s mine, and in case you haven’t forgotten, I got some people held captive in here. It would be wise not to make me angry, otherwise my finger might slip and pull the trigger.”

“Kid, calm down. Let me try talking to him.” The head said soothingly but Blitz yelled some more in the mouthpiece. “Where’s Luna, you narcissist?”

“How rude.” The voice in the line seemed entertained rather than being mad. “If you really insist…” There was a slight muffled sound down on the line and silence.

Then, like a soft breeze blowing. “Blitz…”

“Luna, are you safe?“ He can feel relief doused into his body.

“Um…” She was about to answer when there’s another muffled sound and he came on the line. “Satisfied?”

“Just what on earth do you really want?”

“I don’t want to talk with you. Pass the head over or you’ll be picking bits of dead bodies once I’m through.”

Gritting his teeth, Blitz let the head talk in private in his car while the other officer tries calming him.

Calm? How can he be calm? That guy is sick. And venomous like a poisonous cobra, not the tame ones that you see in zoos, but the ones that are deadly, ready to strike with its poisonous fangs.

The head had been on the radio all the time. Nodding, and shaking his head, his expression stiff and unreadable. He could feel his stomach tightening as the head glanced his way and muttered some more.

It seemed like an eternity when the head finally got off the radio and came over to him.

“What did he say? Is Luna alright?”

“The girl’s fine.” The head said. “But he asked me to pass a message to you. He said, “Send that boy in alone. Don’t think about negotiating, if he comes in alone, I’ll let the hostages go. If not, I keep them.””

“That rat.” Blitz slammed his fist into the officer cruiser, causing a huge dent, causing one of the officers to go, “Hey, kid, watch it.”

The head looked worried. “Kiddo, if you don’t want to go in, then it’s alright. We’ll think of something else.”

“No.” Blitz said. “I’ll go.”

“Are you sure?” The head said. “I can’t guarantee your safety once you step in.”

“It’s alright.” Blitz said. “It’s me he hated most anyway. Knowing him, he might keep his word. As soon as he lets others go, get them to safety.”

The head watched him as Blitz headed up the steps. Part of him had wanted to ask what is his relationship with that girl, and how on earth does he know that crazed guy? But another part of him resisted, telling it’s better not to ask.

He better let that crazed guy know about the situation. Perhaps, perhaps the boy can be spared.

*****************

Seymour listened intently as the head explained the situation on the line. Smiling with satisfaction he then said, “Everyone, out.”

The captives let out a huge breath of relief and they quickly run out, not giving a second glance to him or the girl he held hostage. They just want to get out of here as soon as possible.

“Finally, we can settle this face to face.” Seymour let Luna leaned against his chest as he played with the ammunition. “But before he arrives, let me tell you a little something.”

“I don’t want to hear it from you.” Luna covered her ears but Seymour wrenched her hands away and said, “Oh, but it has something to do with you. A little…piece of information about yourself.”

Luna stopped struggling. “What?”

Seymour leaned in and whispered, “You’re just like me.”

Luna stared at his appearance and shook her head, but he threw back his head and laughed. “I don’t mean by appearance, princess, I meant my race. Our race.”

“What on earth are you talking about?”

“You’re not human.”

At that moment, Blitz stepped out from the doorway. “What on earth are you talking about?”

“You heard me boy, she’s not human. ”

“Shut up.” Blitz picked something out from his pocket. A Swiss army knife that he always carry around. “You wanted me, I’m here.”

“Oh, so you wanted to play with blades?” Seymour tucked the Glock into his waistband and smiled tauntingly. “Then so can I.”

He brought out something long and thin out of thin air. A scabbard. Pulling the weapon free , he swung it a few times like a painter flicking his brush and held it in front of him one handedly. It’s extremely long and thin, with a beautifully designed handle and a shining blade which seemed purplish red in some lights.

“Murasama.” Seymour said calmly. “The blade is considered to be evil and bloodthirsty, but it suits me just fine. Can you feel it though? It’s lusting for blood.”

Blitz suddenly felt something inside him shriveled up. The Swiss Army knife in his hand looked like a toy compared to the blade. What is he suppose to do anyway? Feel the wrath of my mini Swiss Army knife???

Not.

“You should not have appeared that night boy.” Seymour said. “I wanted to take her that night, but you showed up and ruined everything.”

“Then maybe it’s a good thing I did.” Blitz then charged, hacking the knife upwards but one swing from the Murasama caused him to fly into the air and crashed onto some tables.

“Blitz!” Luna tried to run towards him but he blocked her way with the Murasama.

“You don’t have to care for him, he’s only a human who has his powers drawn from the ley lines.” Seymour said.

Luna feel anger washing her like tsunami. Without even thinking, she swung her hand like a fan and an ice stalagmite blasted itself form beneath, colliding with his sword, and also causing her to stumble back in fear.

What??? She stared at the ice stalagmite in shock. Where did that came from?

“It came from you, of course.” Seymour fingered the stalagmite. “I had always wondered why you never use any of your ice and moonlight powers. Now I know. Your amnesia also caused your powers to sleep.”

A pain zapped through her head and she clutched at her temples. A vision slammed itself onto her head and she saw a girl in blue surrounded in ice. A tall girl in white was talking to the girl in blue. The face is very blurry but the girl in blue… Her face is exactly like hers, sapphire eyes, pale skin that glows like moonlight, except her hair is slightly different from hers.

She gave a huge gasp.

The girl is her. That means, the girl who has been blasting ice IS her.

“It can’t be me.” She clutched at her hair. “It can’t be me!” Her voice is rising in hysteria and tears.

“Luna?” Blitz pulled himself up and stared.

“You never knew, did you, boy?” Seymour said, a triumphant air surrounding him. “She is never human.”

“I’m not. I’m not.” Blitz could see she’s in a state of denial. Hysteria is bubbling beneath her and tears are flowing from her eyes.

“You are…” His voice had dropped its harshness and coldness. Now it’s soothing and understanding. “You were never human from the start. Just let me embrace you, and I’ll tell you everything that you need to know. ”

“Don’t listen to him, Luna!” Blitz shouted, blasting thunder from his knife. But a dark shield emerged from beneath and nullified the thunder.

“You’re in my way.” Seymour said, swinging Murasama with a down stroke. Blitz was thrown off his feet and sent crashing through the chairs. He then turned back to Luna, who is panting very hard. “Now then, where were we?”

Without warning, ice erupted from all over the place, coating the ceiling, the walls, the furniture, everywhere. It as though a blizzard had arrived and hit the entire place.

Except this time, her eyes did not turn misty white, but tears are glittering like jewels on her lashes. The cold blizzard wind whipped her hair like a violent storm. More and more frost hungrily made its way towards him, freezing his legs and slowly made its way up to his body, trying to freeze him in ice.

This had gone long enough, Seymour thought, stabbing his blade down and punching Luna hard on the stomach. It knocked her out off her trance and she collapsed. Her legs folded beneath her and she crumpled like a wilted flower. The ice suddenly stopped as though someone hit a switch and it shattered into shards.

Blitz shoved a few chairs off him and made his way to where they are and there he is, holding Luna with one arm, another holding the Glock.

“You already lost.” He said, the Glock suddenly seems bigger in front his view, which looks more threatening.

“You’re obsessed, you know that?”

Seymour seemed to consider something, then slowly, he brought her up and gave a soft kiss on her forehead.

Blitz jumped a mile when he saw that snake kissing her so passionately, it’s not even fast at all, but he’s relishing his time, enjoying the moment, brushing his lips softly against her forehead. The way he’s doing it, it’s as though he’s not an enemy at all, more like lovers.

Jealousy, boiling like hot magma rushed into his body like adrenaline. Why, why that, that….CREEP!!!!!

“No need to get jealous on my account.” Seymour said, straightening himself up. “She’s mine after all.”

“Stop right there.”

Seymour ignored him and made his way out.

The Story of Blitz : Chapter 17 - Hide & Seek

AUTHOR'S NOTE : I'm so sorry for not updating as fast as I could due to the fact that I'm pretty busy and all. Some bits might be a little AWOL but I hope that you fellow readers and friends will continue reading it and give your support. xxx

Now onto the story.

Now that he’s in possession of a car, it’s easy for him to go wherever he want, and whenever he want. It’s just so cool.

But first stop, he drove near the edge of the Shadow Woods and picked a few wild lilies that are growing near the trees there. The flower shop seemed to be half demolished with vines, ivys and roots and for some strange reason, ice half consuming the building. No one knows how or what has happened and so the sheriff placed the yellow crime scene tape together with a keep out sign.

What a weird town, Blitz thought, making his way up to the temple. He wondered if she’s already up there, sweeping the leaves or doing fortune reading to make a living. One way to find out, he thought with sudden resolve. Let’s just hope she’s not mad with him.

As he climbed up the last steps, he was surprised to find it empty…again. No one is around, but then he saw a raven perched on the rooftop, looking at him.

That guy…

The raven flew down and flew in front of his face and transformed into Sigan, who flipped his cape back.

“Ah, I thought it was you…” Blitz said, heart pounding but he’s not going to let him see it.

“If you’re looking for the ice witch, she’s not here.” Sigan said coldly. “He has already taken her.”

Blitz dropped the lilies and the bento lunchbox he picked up on his way here in shock. Taken, as in kidnapped, by that guy?

“But she has escaped again and that’s why I am stuck here, looking high and low, every single nooks and crannies looking for her.” Sigan spit in anger. “That ice witch is always nothing but trouble, why is he obsessed with her anyway?”

“Stop calling her an ice witch, you snake.” Blitz snapped in anger. “Why do you all even want her anyway?”

“Then why don’t you go and ask him yourself?” Sigan sneered nastily.

“Oh, I will.” Blitz scooped up the things that he had dropped. Thankfully, the box lid is still intact. “And I’ll find her, and keep her safe. You jerks have no right to take her.”

Sigan ignored him, turned into a raven, and flew off into the skies.

Shaking in anger, Blitz hurried down the steps, slammed the gear into action and sped off dangerously on the road.

Luna, please, be safe. He prayed.

**************

The morning shift officers are patrolling the town on their cruiser, looking fairly bored. There’s no one about, nor are there any crimes for them to leap into action. Besides, no burglars or thieves ever come here because the town is quiet and far away from the big cities. Why would they even bothered coming here when the big cities have the filthy rich, priceless objects and their big fancy cars compared to their humble but peaceful town.

The officer in the front drummed his fingers impatiently. Maybe he should quit working as an officer and do something else. “Any sign of anything suspicious?”

“No, all clear here.” His partner said.

They turned into the next road to find a tall man, dressed all in black, walking down the pavement. They had never seen anything like him before. His dark hair is long, he wore a leather jacket but no shirt underneath, and he’s suspicious.

“We got a strange guy in our sight.” The officer on the wheel said.

“Yeah, I see him.”

“Should we?”

“Yes, we should.”

The two officers in the front got out of the car and went up to the man, calling out,“ Excuse me.”

The man ignored them and kept walking on, his boot heels clacking hard on the concrete.

“Hey, excuse me.”

The man stopped and turned and they both can’t help but stumble back a little. The man seemed to emit an aura of danger, someone not to be mess around with lightly. But it’s his eyes, his eyes have a very scary wolfish look about them even though his face shows no reaction at all.

“Who are you?” He said, his face not giving anything away.

“We should be asking you, sir.” The officer peered at him. “You don’t look like you’re from town. What are you doing, acting suspiciously around?”

The man’s gaze had dropped to the gun the officer’s carrying. A standard "third generation" Glock 17C, primarily used for military and law enforcement.

“Is that a gun?” The man cut in interestedly.

The officer looked a moment flustered. “Er, yes. It is. Why do you-”

The man suddenly grabbed him by the collar of his uniform and threw him aside, through the huge glass window of a shop. The whole window shattered like ice and there’s no need to check that the officer is already dead.

“What-What are you doing?” The other officer stuttered.

The man whirled on him, and seemingly vanished. Panicked, the officer brought out his own gun, whirling it around wildly before he feel a cold trickle of sweat running down the side of his neck. Just what on earth happened? And who is that that guy?

From behind, a painful blow from the back of the head caused him to be swallowed in cold darkness.

Seymour was panting hard, staring at the dead officer body which is lying on the floor. Those two officers should’ve stayed out of his way. Feeling more relaxed, he jumped over the broken window and stared at the bloodied body among the glass. Kneeling down beside the dead body, he reached over and pulled the "third generation" Glock 17C out of the belt and smiled. Finally, something to arm himself with.

He kicked the bloodied body aside and stepped out of the shop, feeling in a better mood.

He didn’t notice that a third officer, who had been in the back seat of the police cruiser, looking thoroughly shaken, reached for the communications radio and reported what he had seen in horror.

*****************

Where is she? Where the heck is she?

Blitz had driven all the way to the next town via the highway but still, there’s no sign of her.

Blitz had drove all the way downtown in the next town and back, but no sign of her at all. This is getting tiring. I mean, come on, how hard it is to find a girl with blue hair?

He turned into a corner and found a diner. Hm, maybe I could do with something to eat, I haven’t eaten anything except for Scorpio’s cream of mushroom and toast.

Pulling his car to a stop, he stopped and head into the diner. It’s a really tiny place but cozy, with lots of retro deco. The tables are all in red and white checkered table cloths with cute squashy pouffes instead of straight-backed chairs.

“Can I help you?” The waitress came over, wearing a plain blue shirt, capris pants and a blue apron.

“Burger and fries, if you have any.”

The waitress heads to the back, and Blitz sighed. Just where the heck is she? It can’t be hard to find her. Except he had ran back and forth the entire town and no sign of her anywhere. Thank God he had filled the petrol tank till it’s full.

The burger and fries arrived, all hot and fresh, making his mouth water. The bread warm and soft, the patty grilled to perfection, and the fries all golden, sprinkled with salt. The waitress even placed a glass of iced water in front of him even though he did not order any. “Enjoy.” She smiled at him.

Blitz smiled back at her and took a bite. Although it’s simple it made him craved for more.

“You like it?”

He nearly choked on his bit of burger when he saw the waitress hovering near by, wiping the counter top.

“It’s good.” Blitz said, taking a sip of water. “Thanks.”

“Sure.” The waitress surveys him up and down. “You’re not from town right?”

“No, I’m live in Sierra Falls.”

“We don’t get much customers in here.” The waitress sighed. “You know, I wondered if that poor girl is out of town as well. She was half-starved to death so I gave her some burgers-”

“Girl? What girl?”

“Huh, I don’t know. She’s really strange looking.” The waitress frowned hard. ”Petite, wears really odd prayer clothes, blue hair-”

Blitz bolted upright. “Did she say where she’s headed?”

***************

Seymour was passing by a restaurant when sirens pierced loudly in his ear. Ee-woo, ee-woo, ee-woo…

Three officer cruisers came driving around the corner and surrounded him in a semi-circle, blocking his way out. Nine officers came piling out of the cruisers, all holding stun guns.

“You, freeze!” One of them shouted.

“You’re under arrest for the murder of two of our officers.”

Seymour glared at them in annoyance. Just why do they keep popping out like moles?

“It’s him, he killed Portman and Duncan!” One of them shouted, his gun shaking.

Portman and Duncan? Oh, those two guys. Seymour thought. How careless I was, I didn’t expect another person hiding in the cruiser.

He took a step forward towards the officers.

“Don’t move! We are armed with stun guns, which means we can stun you.” One of the officers shouted.

Seymour glanced at the gun. “You think something like that can stop me?”

“What-What are you-” He was cut off as Seymour grabbed him by the collar and smashed him though the cruiser windshield, causing everyone to panic.

“Stop that right now!” One of the officers yelled. “We will fire if you misbe-” His voice failed him as the volcanic blue eyes faced him. Just what on earth is this guy? His not like the other criminals they had faced with. He’s like a violent monster, or even a bomb, which can explode at anytime he wished.

“Miss, what on earth are you doing there?”

Seymour turned and felt his heart tremble with excitement. One of the officers had been talking to a bush in front of the restaurant and there she is, with some leaves clinging to her. He never even noticed she was hiding there all along.

What luck.

“Miss, please get back.” One of the officers is trying to help her out. “We are trying to-” There is a sharp cracking sound and a hole had appeared in between his eyes. Stunned, he fall flat on his back.

Luna stared at the dead officer in shock, feeling shaken. Why…?

Before she even knew what’s happening, Seymour grabbed her into a head lock and placed the gun right next to her head.

“What?”

“If any of you shoot,” Seymour said with a very poisonous smile. “Then I’ll kill her.”

“Wait, what are you-”

“Shut up.” He backed towards the door of the restaurant. “Don’t even think of trying anything funny because one wrong move and it’s all over for her.”

The officers could only watch helplessly as the strange man pulled the girl with him into the restaurant.

Blitz had been watching everything from afar and felt a sinking feeling in his heart. No.

No.

Too late…

The Story of Blitz : Chapter 16 - Kidnapped Maiden

I’m scared…

I’m really scared…

A flash of light blinded her for a moment and a crystalline castle came into view.

What is that place…? Have I been there?

Why is my head spinning? Why is the surface so hard? No, more to the point…

Where am I…?

Pain throbbing her head, Luna got up and took in her surrounding. She’s in a fancy room with fancy furniture and sweeping curtains - no, to be more precise, a suite…?

Panicking, Luna got off the bed with steel frames and ran to the door, trying to open it but somehow it’s locked. No matter how she much she twisted the knob or hammered at the door hard, it won’t open, nor did anyone appeared, making her feel frustrated.

A delicious smell seemed to tempt her, making her stomach growl. Shaking slightly, she found a tray of meal on the table. Still warm. Hesitantly, she reached over for one of the warm buttered bread rolls… about to touch it…

“You’re finally awake.”

Luna gave a yelp as though she had been caught stealing and stumbled, but a smooth movement caught her from slamming onto the floor just as the same time a door swung shut.

“Shhh, it’s alright. I won’t hurt you…” He chided her, who is struggling helplessly like a bird trying to free itself from its cage. “Demise and Sigan are not here. I’m having you all to myself.”

“Stop it.” Luna said. “Why do you keep saying that? I don’t even know who you are.”

“You don’t need to know anything, all you just need to know is that no one will tear us apart again.” He reached over for one of the bread rolls and put it in her hand. “You haven’t eaten anything much. Here. It’s still warm.”

Silently, Luna took a bite of the bread roll. Warm and buttery in her mouth. She crammed it into her mouth hungrily, without bothering to swallow the first bite, which is pretty unlady-like, chewing hungrily, but this tall dark handsome man doesn’t seem to mind. He just stroke her gently, like a delicate flower that is fragile to the touch.

“You haven’t changed at all. That’s good.” His fingers started braiding her hair. “I always liked doing this to you. You never seemed to mind it.”

Luna swallowed the entire bread and said, “Why? Just tell me why you are treating me like this?”

Seymour tilted her chin to face him and leaned near her, his voice carrassing her like silk. “…Because I love you.”

Luna felt stunned for a few minutes. Did he… Did he just…

Without thinking, she shoved herself away from him, falling flat on her backside, which reminded how she fell flat when they first bumped into each other. Deja-vu much?

“That’s…That’s absurd.” She spluttered.

“It’s not.” Seymour joined her on the floor, stretching his legs out. “It’s real.”

Luna hugged her knees tight, thoughts spinning wildly around her head. This is crazy really crazy. She’s only 16, for God’s sake! How old is this guy? In his twenties… He’s nearly half her age, from the looks of it.

“Okay…” She said outloud. “I must be stuck in a crazy dream. I’m going to pinch myself and I’’ll probably be back at the shrine.” She pinched herself hard on the arm and yelped in pain and-

“You’re not dreaming, princess.” Seymour said, holding her hand. “It’s real.”

Luna slapped his hands away and bolted, making her way for the door but he caught her in mere seconds.

“As I had said so earlier, I’m having you all to myself, princess.” He pulled her to him and she felt herself hitting his chest hard. “And I meant it.” He steered her to the sofa and said softly. “You are only allowed to move around in your room, and I had paid the staff to take care of you. I’m not letting anyone near you and they’ll be watching your door at all time, so don’t bother trying to escape. I’ll be out attending some errands so just be a good girl and stay in here quietly.”

He then vanished into thin air, leaving her alone with the tray of bread. Feeling a flicker of doubt, she tried the door again, but somehow, he seemed to have locked it without her knowledge.

I’m scared… No! She straightened up from the sofa. This is not the time to be scared. You have to think of something to escape. Not moping around! Come on, girl! Pull yourself together!

Let’s think. Those guys are only after her right… And they think they are all so smug about keeping guard at her door. Well think again. They forgotten the window.

With renewed determination, she went over to the window and yes! It’s unlocked, but when she peered over the window, she then saw why. She’s at least ten floors high up. There is absolutely no way she can jump down from here unless she wants to be flat pancake.

Sighing, she let the window open by a few inches to let in some fresh air. Great. Just great. They have the right to be smug about it. First of all, it’s too high up. Secondly, the walls are smooth, making it impossible to be gripped by hand. And the direction of the window being faced has been carefully chosen. No one can see her, nor can she see them because of the tall buildings. In short, no one can see her and she can’t see them.

Frustrated and feeling a dreaded sort of feeling, she picked up the tray and bring it over to the bed, careful not to spill any oil on the clean fitted linens. She picked up another buttered roll and chewed it thoughtfully, letting her clean fingers of her other hand running the surface of the bed-

The linens… She grabbed at it with her fingers. Okay, it might just work. It’s a crazy idea, but it just might work.

Reaching over to the service phone, she dialed a number and waited to be put through.

“Hi, um, I’m just wondering…Do you happen to have any clean linens…”

***************

“Blitz, we got a surprise for you…” Gemini’s eyes are sparkling with excitement.

Blitz glanced up from today’s breakfast, cream of mushroom soup with toast, Scorpio’s style and said, “It had better be good, Gem.”

“We’re going to blindfold you.” Virgo said, holding out a black cloth.

Scorpio, who had been frying sunny side up eggs went, “Oh, it’s here already?”

“Yep.” Virgo had finished blindfolding him and gem grabbed his hand. “Come on, follow our lead.”

Blitz followed their lead, but to be honest, his mind wasn’t with them. He was thinking of what Scorpio had said about staying away from Luna.

He can’t believe Scorpio, Scorpio of all people, the most friendliest among all the three. Gemini is a little prickly and guarded, and she doesn’t open up to others that fast. Virgo is a rebel, so everything he says is really blunt. Scorpio is the only one who is laid back and often relaxed, and he often jams on Tuesdays and Thursday nights with his own rock-metal band, Metallica Scorpions.

“Blitz? Hello?” Gemini’s voice broke him out of his thoughts. “Are you ready?”

“Ready for what?”

He could feel the blindfold loosening around him. “On the count of three…”

“One, two…”

“Surprise!”

The blindfold was whisked off his eyes and he found himself in the Angelo’s garage, with all of their vehicles parked inside. Carla’s van, faded cream and with the paint flaking; Scorpio’s Toyota Corolla, second handed and out of fashion since it’s the old model; Virgo’s 400cc Suzuki Bandit bike outshined among them, not because it’s the only bike but because it looked relatively new ( according to Scorpio, Virgo got it through “special means”.)

And standing beside the three, it’s a car he had never seen before. An old-fashioned Honda, its paint touched up into flawless white and looks good as new. On the wind screen, someone has placed a card on the wiper. With fumbling hands , Blitz reached out and flicked it open. This is your welcome present, take good care of it and have fun. Love from Aunt Carla, Scorpio, Gemini and Virgo.

“It’s yours.” Gemini said, cracking a smile.

Blitz run his hand up on the roof, feeling the smooth, cool surface of the car. This is just brilliant. Really brilliant. He don’t have a car back in Washington because he had a Metro card and all the part-time salary he received go to the bills and his education, so he haven’t needed a car but now…

“It arrived few days ago, but we wanted to make sure that the engine’s not run down.” Gemini said.

“Take it out for a spin.” Virgo threw something in his direction and he caught it neatly in his hand. A key ring.

“I owe you guys and Aunt Carla, big time.” Blitz said, flipping the key ring in his hand.

“You can owe us by working as our chef.” Gemini said as he opened the door and stepped in, putting the key into the ignition.

“Sure do.”

Gemini went to open the garage doors and the Honda vroomed out and into the road.

Luna paused at her knotting as the footsteps sounded nearer. It can’t be the staff, they come in only every hour, and it’s only forty-five past the hour.

The footsteps stopped at the door, but made no attempt to knock or walk past. It seemed to stop in front of the door, waiting.

Please don’t come in, please don’t come in…. She prayed feverishly, tucking the linens out of sight, where there’s a long bundle tucked out of sight behind her like an oversized ball. If the staff really did come in, could she fib her way out of this?

It seemed a very long time when the footsteps finally went away, causing her to take lungful of air, not realizing she had been holding her breath for so long.

It was another ten minutes before she’s finally done. Her fingers are numb and clumsy as she secured the final knot on the bed stand and flung the linen rope out of the window.

Trembling with excitement, she felt the need to whoop but stopped herself in time. There’s no time. The staff is going to come back in five minutes time and she needed to get out, fast.

She swung herself out of the window and made her way down carefully but with quick movements. Once or twice the linen threatened to snap but it managed to hold. Surprisingly, she felt calm as she made her way down. Somewhere, in the back of her mind, a voice seemed to keep telling her she had done it lots of time. Well, then that’s a good thing, because she’s going to need to tap that part to get out of here.

When she finally made her way down to the last two floors, she let herself go, landing lightly on all fours like a cat.

Free at last.

“Hey! Where did the girl go?!’ A voice came from above.

Without even hesitating or looking back, she ran.
